Alias was formed in Pekin, Illinois in the summer of 2003 when bassist Brian Strack
(Raindance) and his vocalist wife Denell accepted an invitation to jam with local guitarist Jason Sonderman. After a brief period, veteran rock drummer Bill Yeakel
(Blitz, 80 Proof, Boogieman) was brought in to round out the rhythm section and Alias was complete.
Soon after, Sonderman left the band, which opened the door for local veteran rocker Justin Robbins
(Native Tounge, Mister Miser, Roadhouse). This is the period that Alias became a true band and took shape. With this line-up, they began to work up solid live performances and build a following of dedicated local supporters.
However, not long after, Robbins was forced with an unfortunate departure and the band faced an uncertain future. During the search for a replacement, they decided to add a second guitar player to the mix. Subsequently, Sonderman expressed an interest in returning and was hired as rhythm guitarist.
Facing months of booked shows and losing their only guitar player, Alias placed an online ad which was spotted by metal veteran Chuck
Brierton (Silent Tiger, The Reign), who had relocated to the area only weeks before. After two rehearsals the band knew they had
their lead guitarist and the newly revised Alias began an intensive practice schedule to work in the new line-up without missing any beats.
The following year was spent further building the fan base and tightening the set list, all the while introducing new material to the show. But once again misfortune presented itself as Sonderman was faced with having to leave the band, so, rather than go through the long process of auditions, the decision was made to let Chuck handle all guitar duties, taking Alias back to
their original four-piece structure.
The band continues to deliver a mix of classic and new rock, new country and current pop, but doing so with a much heavier and
aggressive style. The presentation of the live show is clearly that of a hard rock band throwing out big handfuls of whatever and making it all stick. They continue to win new fans and supporters with rock solid, in-your-face live shows and the powerful voice and undeniable charisma of Ms. Strack.
An interesting and entertaining evening of music and fun. What's YOUR Alias?
